Ross Ainslie & Jarlath Henderson (Scotland & Ireland)
Upon meeting Jarlath Henderson for the first time, Ross Ainslie noted that “it was kind of like meeting himself, but just on a different instrument.” Since then, Ross Ainslie (bagpipes and whistle) and Jarlath Henderson (uilleann pipes and whistle) have pushed their way to the forefront of the Celtic music scene through a contemporary approach to their traditional instruments. They have even been dubbed as “the new stars of Celtic music.”
From the beginning, Ross and Jarlath both have shared a strong desire to push the boundaries of their pipes and flutes. In doing so, these two “ridiculously talented” players have created a vibrant and pulsating fusion of both traditional Irish and Scottish folk songs, as well as original compositions. On stage, Ross and Jarlath create an atmosphere that is bursting at the seams with energy and is truly a marvel to behold. This complex mix of styles and sounds has helped Ross and Jarlath become known as two of the most enigmatic performers on the world circuit today.
“Ross Ainslie and Jarlath Henderson… can both move the listener profoundly and create an unstoppably exciting momentum.” – Rob Adams, heraldScotland
