Schryer Nolan Dobres Trio (Canada/Ireland)
Pierre Schryer is one of Canada’s leading traditional fiddlers. Schryer grew up in Ontario, expressing his francophone heritage through fiddling with his triplet brothers, before moving on to perform solo. He was nominated for a JUNO award in 2004 for his Roots & Traditional album Blue Drag and has shared the stage with artists from Ashley MacIssac to Natalie McMaster.
Born in Ireland, Martin Nolan started uilleann pipe lessons as a child and the rest, as they say, is history. Nolan is known for his ‘traveling style’ of piping, which uses an abundance of legato and staccato techniques that are pleasantly present throughout his playing. He has shared stages with the likes of acclaimed saxophonist David Liebman and has performed throughout Asia, Europe and North America.
Adam Dobros is a classically trained guitarist and an avid collaborator. He has performed and collaborated with the likes of Oliver Swain, Ruth Moody and The Wailin’ Jennys.
Pierre, Martin and Adam are renowned for their work individually, but together they are creating a formidable trio. Each brings their own cultural traditions to the stage, creating a tantalizing fusion of Irish and Franco-Ontarian melodies. Together, they create a remarkably fresh and unforgettable performance.
